Diabetes

Diabetes is often diagnosed after an extended period of dysregulated blood sugar. At this time, the pancreas is no longer able to produce adequate and functional insulin to maintain blood glucose levels within a healthy range. In order to better accommodate elevated blood sugar, medications like Metformin and Insulin may be prescribed. If patients are unable to make lifestyle and dietary changes, these medications can be life-saving. While absolutely necessary for survival in Type I Diabetes, sometime diet and lifestyle modifications can help the Type II Diabetic. At Sonoran University, we carefully review the patient’s history to see diet and lifestyle changes will enhance the quality of life in patients with this chronic condition.
