Christian Q.

I first took my son Christian Quarantello to see Dr. Bain on April 13th. Our first appointment was a student appointment and we met Dr. Bain after giving the student Sarah, Christian’s medical/behavioral history. Just a little bit about Christian, he is 3 1/2 and on the spectrum, mostly non verbal. He has had medical issues that have been ongoing for quite some time. I have taken him to multiple Doctors and specialists, none of whom were willing and/or able to help him. They have all brushed me off and made me feel like I was an inexperienced first time Mom that was overreacting to my son’s medical issues.

In desperation and frustration, I made the appointment with Sonoran and Dr. Bain hoping she would be able to help my son. With the experiences I have had with all of his previous Doctor visits, I wasn’t very hopeful. To my surprise, this appointment was completely different. The student Sarah was kind and patient and understood the struggle of a very active autistic toddler. Then we got to meet Dr. Bain. I don’t think I can put into words how absolutely wonderful she is.

She took the time to listen to me and didn’t make me feel rushed or stupid for asking what seemed like 100 questions. Since our first appointment, I have had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Bain several times, the most recent was yesterday afternoon – which is what is really prompting this email. We had a call scheduled for yesterday to follow up on the homeopathy that Dr. Bain had suggested. Initially I was going to reschedule the call because Christian has been having some health issues which has prevented me from starting homeopathy and I didn’t want to waste Dr. Bain’s time. Well, I didn’t reschedule the call and I will be eternally grateful for that.

While speaking with Dr. Bain I told her that Christian has been having stomach pain going on for almost two months. The last week or so his belly had become distended and very hard to the touch. I let Dr. Bain know that I had made an appointment with a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at Banner, but Christian was not able to be seen until June 20th. Being concerned, Dr. Bain said Christian needed to be seen that day or the next, concerned that it may be an obstruction and informed me that she would make a call. Within minutes she called me back to let me know that Banner would be able to see Christian the next day.

In all of my years on this earth, I have never had a medical professional, let alone a Doctor take the time to do something like that.. NEVER! I am still in utter disbelief that she cares so much about her patients, that she would go WAY above and beyond to do that.
