Clinical training at Sonoran University of Health Sciences College of Naturopathic Medicine is designed with the goal of providing an intuitive progression of medical education. Our demanding program exceeds the clinical education requirements as prescribed by the Council of Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME). The average number of patient contacts per student exceeds 1,000 (minimum of 500 required). Both Medical Center and Neil Riordan Center for Regenerative Medicine immerse students clinicians in real-life patient experiences under the supervision of a licensed naturopathic physician. Our clinical education allows students to utilize the newest diagnostic and therapeutic equipment in the field.
Sonoran University Medical Center is where classroom learning meets practical application with patients. In this setting, our student clinicians from the College of Naturopathic Medicine apply intake and physical diagnosis skills to identify causes of pathology in our patients. Student clinicians work with attending and resident physicians to decide on appropriate laboratory testing and treatment for patients.
Neil Riordan Center for Regenerative Medicine recognizes pain is one of the most common reasons patients seek medical care. Sonoran University opened the Neil Riordan Center for Regenerative Medicine to give patients alternatives and students an unprecedented learning environment to combine traditional and modern therapies. Through Neil Riordan Center for Regenerative Medicine’s integrative model, student clinicians will draw on the knowledge of MDs, NDs, acupuncturists and other providers who have many decades of combined patient care experience. The clinical reasoning offered in this rich setting gives our students a strong foundation as an ND. Many people can learn the mechanics of injecting; the attending physicians aim to teach our student clinicians the “why,” or in some cases, the “why not.” The Center features 10 exam rooms, two counseling rooms, four open bays, one conference room, a fluoroscopy suite, and an on-site medicinary.
