Microneedling

Microneedling

Have the appearance of younger looking skin that reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, stretch marks, and sun spots. Microneedling is a minimally invasive, cosmetic procedure that is used to address skin concerns related to the collagen layer of your skin. The procedure can also be enhanced by using a naturally occurring component of your blood to promote tissue growth, healing, and create a natural, youthful look.

Microneedling FAQs

Proper hydration is important for overall skin health, as well as allowing for an easy blood draw. Additionally, arriving with bare skin, free of make-up, moisturizers, etc. will allow for proper evaluation of your skin and streamline the microneedling procedure.

Make sure to speak with your physician about any preparatory IVs or supplements they may offer that can increase your bioavailable collagen and collagen-building nutrients to further enhance your treatment.

While some patients begin to see results right away, the best results will be seen 4 – 6 weeks post procedure

Following your procedure, your skin will be pink to red and may be more sensitive than normal. While you may participate in your normal daily activities, it is advisable to stay out of direct sunlight and avoid activities that may trigger sweat, such as exercise. Your skin may remain slightly pink to red, similar to a sunburn, for 2 – 5 days. During this healing time you may experience mild itching, peeling and / or flaking. Your treating physician will review an aftercare skin routine with you.

While some patients begin to see results right away, the best results will be seen 4 – 6 weeks post procedure. For existing scars, it usually takes a few treatments to see best results. Microneedling should not be performed on patients prone to keloid formation (excessive scarring), over open wounds, over active infections, over malignant lesions, on patients with bleeding disorders, or during pregnancy. Microneedling is a medical procedure and should always be done under the supervision of a licensed medical professional, like the naturopathic doctors at Sonoran University. In addition to evaluating if microneedling is appropriate for you, a ND will evaluate additional factors such as hydration, nutrition and lifestyle to make sure you get the most out of your treatment.
